At an average of 70 years of age, retired, and a goal of living off all the money they worked so hard to save for the rest of their lives, safely, with the least amount of volatility and taxation, my clients find my experience invaluable. Unlike many financial advisors today, who have never been through a single market crash or extreme volatility, I entered the financial services business in 1986. Since that time, I have “weathered many a stormy sea” in the financial markets and these periods of unrest have provided me with an enormous depth of “real world” experience in designing plans which safely help our clients navigate these storms which inevitably occur. Additionally, my many years have provided me great insight to how folks react to markets when they get volatile or crash and the emotions and unique psychology of the retiree where “the pain of loss is felt ten times more severely than the euphoria of big gains.”
Folks who have a medical condition affecting their heart, sensibly and with good cause, seek the advice of a specialist, a Cardiologist, as opposed to their general practitioner. I feel it is imperative that retirees or those on the verge of retirement would be wise to follow the same logic when it comes to seeking a financial advisor.
Since 1994 the focus of my education, the classes I teach and over 95% of my practice is to serve this unique group of people every day. Confusion about retirement planning caused by the internet and media “noise” swirling around the topic has created an unprecedented need for sound, independent and most of all, experienced guidance to this special group of people. My practice is grounded in serving retirees and has been laser focused on serving their needs, standing behind the ideal of giving our clients the ability to “Sleep Well At Night” or “SWAN” for the golden years of their lives.
With a practice built around and focused on serving folks this unique group of investors, those seeking to live their “golden years” never running out of money and being able to sleep well at night knowing their money is good hands, I accept the responsibility of being held to a Fiduciary Obligation to work in my Clients best interest. The Fiduciary standard is one of the highest forms of financial responsibility one can have in our business is a commitment to act in the best interest of our client. I believe in the age-old adage of “putting your money where your mouth is” and as a result, I recommend investments or portfolios that I believe are best for my clients based on their goals, risk tolerance, and financial situation. To use another adage “when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life,” I find great joy in helping our clients live the retirement they dreamed of.
